Routine Exams, Glasses and Contacts

Vision insurance will almost always be a separate plan from your regular health insurance. Dr. Kirby Smith is a provider for the majority of vision plans currently available. For the few plans that we are not providers for, our staff will be happy to assist you in filing an out-of-network claim with your insurance company so you can get the care you need.

HEALTH INSURANCE

Coverage for eye health issues

Health Insurance companies regard eye health issues in a separate category from Exams, Glasses and Contacts. Medical conditions of the eye such as glaucoma, pink eye, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration would be covered by health insurance. In addition, foreign body removal would be considered a medical issue.
